Facebook SIM cardWhat's your SIM card? If you are TRI network users like me, you will be able to access Facebook Zero for free. Working with Indonesian service providers like Indosat, XL, TRI and Telkomsel, Facebook allows its users to access the site via Facebook Zero urls 0.facebook.com or zero.facebook.com as a free service, and run Facebook application right from mobile phone.

Gemalto, an Amsterdam-based company, has created the first Facebook SIM card that will enable users to get Facebook functionalities, including confirming friend requests and updating status, without data connection. This development was confirmed by Facebook's spokesperson:

We worked closely with Gemalto on their Facebook for SIM product and believe it will be another easy and affordable way for people to stay connected through Facebook on the mobile phone of their choice. Facebook for SIM creatively combines technologies from some of our existing mobile solutions that especially are attractive for people with feature phones and have limited or no data plans with a mobile operator.

Gemalto was also reportedly to work together with Apple in October before Apple cancelled the plan in November.
