Clash between Pandeglang residents and Ahmadiyah has killed six people

I'm reluctant to comment when it comes to religion -- like what happened today: Six members of Ahmadiyyah, an Islamic sect, in Pandeglang, Banten, were killed as the clash between Ahmadiyyah members and residents of Umbulan village, Cik eusik subdistrict, broke this morning.

"I saw six people were killed. They are all followers of Ahmadiyah," Cikeusik community leader Lukman said.

Lukman explained that initially residents had no intention to take violent acts. Villagers just wanted the followers of the Ahmadiyah to disband themselves.

Meanwhile, police came to the site of the clash to secure Ahmadiyah members.

The district secretary of the village of Cikeusik said on Sunday that hundreds of police had arrived to secure the site of the bloody Ahmadiyah clash in the village of Pendeuy in Umbulan.

Tonight, to further investigate the matter, top security minister Djoko Suyanto issued a series of instructions for law enforcement agencies.

The police were informed that there were activities related to the Ahmadiyah in Cikeusik. These were led by a certain Ismail Suparman. Locals thought that these activities were unacceptable and were preparing to take action.
