Ministry and RIM are scheduled to meet Monday

Tifatul Sembiring and RIM to meetWhether Communications Minister Tifatul Sembiring will ban Blackberry or not doesn't affect me. I myself don't use the smart phone. My old Java phone, Sony Ericsson K600i, is enough for free browsing, chatting and even blogging.

However, I'm happy to know that both Communications Ministry and Research in Motion (RIM), the Blackberry maker, are scheduled to meet Monday at the Ministry's office in Jakarta.

According to Gatot Subroto, the Communications Ministry spokesperson, the Ministry would ask for RIM ’s commitment in complying with Indonesia ’s regulations, especially those that oblige telecommunications operators to filter pornographic content.

To tell you the truth, no one uses Blackberry here in Blimbing. Additionally, I don't put any interest in the smart phone. Features like internet, e-mail, and instant messenger are already available on my Java phone. I also argue that porn contents can be accessed not only from Blackberry but even also from ugly Java-based phones like Nokia 6020.

So, why bothering yourself to ban RIM?
