Tomorrow, on Sunday, thousands of people from various faiths will hold a prayer vigil in front of the Presidential Palace. Those people will urge president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to respond this religious case, and will protest his lack of action to clamp down on the attacks, including the ones done by extremist group Islamic Defenders Front (FPI: Front Pembela Islam).

The Forum for Religious Freedom Solidarity protesters are threatening to conduct the prayer vigil every Sunday at the same site until the government gives assurances it would stop any religious violence. "We will demand the government provide protection to people so that they can freely choose their religion and worship," Saor Siagian, one of the coordinators, said Friday.

"We will hold the mass prayer vigil as a form of protest at the President's [complacency]," he said. "We want [the President] to see that many people still don't have a place to pray," he said.

Saor was referring to an attack on the congregation of the HKBP Pondok Timur Indah Christian congregation in Bekasi, who were attacked during a service last Sunday by a mob from the Islamic Community Forum (FUI).

Dozens of congregation members were injured during the attack, most of them women.
