UNISLA Universitas Islam Lamongan foto gambarIslamic University of Lamongan (UNISLA) is a private university in East Java. It was formerly located in Pondok Pesantren Sunan Drajat, in the village of Drajat, subdistrict of Paciran, Regency of Lamongan, and was one of the most favorite universities in the area. In 2009, the university moved to Dengok, a tiny village next to Blimbing. Due to this sudden move, many students of higher semester rejected to go to college and insisted on having their class held in their old building in Drajat. UNISLA, then, decided to transfer those students to other universities such as UNISDA of Surabaya and STITMA.
I met and talked to Pak Hidayat, an Islamic Education lecturer, yesterday morning at his house, which is right behind the college. Pak Hidayat explained that the move of the university was caused by institution internal problems, something that he refused to mention.

UNISLA, now under the management of Pondok Pesantren Maslakul Huda, Dengok, has more than five faculties including the faculty of Technology, which is the most popular among students.
As a Nahdlatul-Ulama-based university, UNISLA prioritizes religous values and if you see the buildings, you'll find the domination of green, prophet Mohamed's favorite color (Photo above).
