Twitter Indonesia Biggest Top PositionIndonesia ranks the first position for Twitter access. In June 2010, about 20.8 percent of Indonesian internet users visit the social networking site, making it the highest penetration of Twitter users in the world. Wow, very surprisin!

I think the only reason why it happens is that Indonesian media keeps encouraging people to be curious about Twitter, especially after TV station SCTV launched Twitter-like infotainment program "Status Selebritis" or "Celebrities' Statues."

The study by comScore, Inc., which measures the digital world, released its report on growth worldwide on Thursday.

"The study found that in June, nearly 93 million Internet users visited, an increase of 109 percent from the previous year, as the social networking site achieved strong gains across all global regions," a comScore press release says.

"Indonesia reported the highest penetration, with 20.8 percent of Internet users in the country visiting that month, followed by Brazil and Venezuela, with Venezuela's growth fueled in large part by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's decision to join Twitter in late April." The Netherlands (17.7 percent) and Japan (16.8percent) rounded out the top five, while countries in Latin America and Asia Pacific represented many of the remaining top markets, including the Philippines (14.8percent), Mexico (13.4 percent) and Singapore (13.3 percent), the statement says.

Graham Mudd, comScore vice president search and media, says experienced an explosion in global traffic over the past year, establishing itself as one of the most-visited social networking sites across each of the five worldwide regions.
