SD Islam Sultan Agung

SD Islam Sultan Agung is an Islamic primary school located in the village of Gowah Blimbing, Paciran district, Lamongan regency, East Java. If you've never heard of this place before, you should at least know about Wisata Bahari Lamongan, a maritime tourist attraction in Paciran village. The school is just a few kilo meters from the tourist attraction.

Starting to operate in 2007, the primary school now has more than 400 students from Gowah and its neighbouring villages, including Sedayu, Brondong, Dengok and Jompong.

As an Islamic school, SD Sultan Agung applies a strict rule in which students have to perform Dhuha prayer, a non-obligatory prayer done between 7 to 10 a.m., and Jama'ah shalat Dhuhur (afternoon prayer performed together in a mosque). Interestingly, no students disobey this rule despite their young age. Oftentimes, the school also holds a study camp in its football field, building tents and staying night at school, learning to read holy Quran and discussing school subjects.

The headmaster, Mr Kastunggal, just arrived from Arab when he was appointed to lead the school. Its close location to MIM 11 TPAY makes both schools become good partners in education.

Sultan Agung also has a kindergarten called TK Islam Sultan Agung. The kindergarten, which is also the place where my sister Diana used to study, has started since 2000.

Unfortunately, the school doesn't have its own website yet. If any of the school staff or teachers happens to read this post, please let me know whether you need my help to build the school site. I'll be glad.
