Kalimantan, an Indonesian island where my girlfriend Icha was born, is flooded. At least 14 villages with more than 200 houses in Astambul district, Banjar regency, South Kalimantan were inundated by the overflow water from Riam Kiwa river over the last few days in this April.

Muhammad Sonwani Agus, an officer as the Astambul district, told Antara news agency on Saturday that the flooding has started since Thursday.

Up to 290 houses in the 14 villages located near the river were affected, he said.

Martapura district head Khairuddin Fahri said on Saturday, "The houses in two villages of the district were still inundated until last night, but water level had started to subside so that local residents could do their daily activities."
